Have you heard about the Alien Invasion? Aliens have surrounded the planet and are now in standby mode while they decide on their next course of action. There is a stand off at the moment . . . you know the classic scene . . . the aliens arrive and one of them says:
"Take me to your leader!"
This is where the dilemna arises. The aliens are not happy that we don't have a leader - not one they are prepared to deal with at any rate. They have withdrawn their forces to a neaby location and left a radio drone to patrol the planet. This drone is a news and radio station. Its purpose is to collect information and to download the battle plans to commence the invasion. The alien vessel is broadcasting a continuous stream of drivel . . . the alien vessel is broadcasting a stream of news and entertainment programs while it fine tunes its translators . . .
Now I have it. A news report. Hmmm . . . this is my project for Digital Story Technology. Now I just have to storyboard it, do a bit of planning and produce a production journal . . . by last Friday.
Gotta run
adios
This blog is now for Narrative Story Ideas, my Production Journal and items from my Digital Story Technology course at the University of Adelaide. Please feel free to comment, or add story ideas of your own.

Narrative Story idea - News Report
Ahoy me Bloggers :-
Digital story idea:
A News program. Perhaps with some real stories, and not-so-real stories. Maybe some send up of some news stories, or stories that send up other news stories. A weather report. This looks promising.
No this won't do. It is to far away from my purpose. I want to make video clips that compliment our music. Music from the Radio Curly Collective, we have hundreds of video clips that we need to make. Why waste time making a film about something else?
Compromise.
A News program. An alien news program. Aliens have surrounded the planet and lay just out of sight in an orbit around our planet. Their has been a technical hitch to the alien invasion and the aliens have left a single space ship to observe and report back to the main fleet. This alien space ship is disguised as a news station, broadcasting by satellite, via the internet.
Hmmm . . . this is promising . . . I have a script I wrote last year that will be perfect. Now, a quick storyboard, some production notes and voila, my production journal, that was due today? Yesterday? I might have it ready for Monday.
Stay tuned . . . standing by . . . stand by camera one

My Production List
Ahoy me Bloggers :- Video camera - broken. Video capture card - no longer on my computer - my son has it. Video from mobile phone - low resolution - sound distorts - digital camera from mobile phone - not very good quality. Video library of old clips, bits and pieces, on large drive on PC, shaky, it doesn't always boot properly. Picture libraries, on each of three computers.
Sound track - this will not be a problem once narrative has been decided.

Narrative Story idea #5
Ahoy me Bloggers :- The anticipation is rising. The tension is building. And this is just the beginning. I look around around and everything seems to be in slow motion. There are people every where. They all seem to be looking at me. There is a sudden noise. And we are off. Running, speeding, sprinting, as fast as I can, leaping over any obstacle, I must be first. Faster. Faster. Faster.
I look up to the sound of a pneumatic 'whoosh'. It's the 9.18 106 bus to Magil.
"Whadda yer doing mate? Trying to qualify for the Olympics?"
Cut.

Narrative story idea #4
Ahoy me Bloggers :- Back on the bus - on a tram - the tram from Glenelg to the City - the passenger has a guitar case - looks out of the window - at traffic, at rain, at cars and bright lights. He gets off at Victoria Square and takes out his guitar from the case. He plugs into a little portable amplifier. He spins around and around the centre of the square as the traffic spins around him - camera motion with the traffic and against the traffic - rain, bright lights, traffic, cars. Already have soundtrack.
Narrative Story idea #3
Ahoy me Bloggers :- dot click dot click dot click - aboriginal dot painting - filmed dot by dot in step animation - dot click dot click dot click - tell a story - see it come to life - dot click
Narrative Story idea #2
Ahoy me Bloggers :- I'm on a bus. Observing. He is on the phone, at the back of the bus. She is on the phone, at the front of the bus. He can see her, but she doesn't know that he is on the bus. He speaks gentle words into his mouthpiece. Tears run from her eyes. It's raining, yes it's raining, the tears of her face merge into her reflection in a rain-streaked window. She says something into her phone. He is startled. He shouts into the phone. She closes her yes. Fade to black.
Narrative Story Idea #1
Ahoy me Bloggers :- I've been kidnapped by pirates; and hauled over the seven seas. I've escaped and am swimming homewards, followed by sharks in a feeding frenzy. A huge sea liner looms up out of the mist . . . and slithers past me, blissfully unaware of my precarious predicament. Cut.
